Apple Annie's Apple Orchard & Pumpkin Patch
We were sooo thrilled to find an apple orchard & pumpkin patch! It is 2 hours south of Tucson in Wilcox, AZ. We were so happy that we were not going to have to give up this family tradition by moving to the "desert"! We attended as a homeschool family so there were a lot of events to share. The first part was a harvesting class where we learned lots of information about corn. This was handy info that helped us with all the hints regarding direction in the maze. The sunflower patch was a bonus, but the little girls weren't too interested in it because of the zillion bees flying around...Greta is just one fearless chic...okay, anything for a great photo op! Next we were off to the apple orchard...which was pretty appleless because of a freeze last April that had depleted 80% of their crop. We still had fun walking around the grove.
Recently, I had just become friends with a lady whose family attends where we worship. Her name is Dixie Bowman and happened to live in Wilcox (that's here hugging the kids). She had also invited us out to her house that evening for dinner, which to our great delight is a horse ranch! The children were in seventh heaven as they went out to see the quarter horses. We ended our evening with a wonderful lesson on Christ's kingdom at a gospel meeting at the Wilcox Church of Christ.
